Did you know you can buy "virtual" real estate for REAL money?!? I love fantasy fiction which lends itself to science fiction which lends itself to virtual reality, but I was definitely surprised to find virtual real estate (from on-line fantasy worlds) is selling for real money. A typical price for a 16 acre island in the virtual world of "massively multiplayer online games" (MMOG) like Second Life is $1,250.00 with land fees for maintaining ownership of around $200.00 per month! That's not Monopoly money, but real hard earned legal tender cash that is being paid for some of these mythical islands! I was so awestruck by this information that I forgot to ask who collects the money but the site does say your credit card will be charged if you bid in US dollars!
