May 7, 2006 - Closing Table Disclosures

Today (that was early in my career) I would ask anyway just as a protection even if I did it jokingly like, "So, what's hidden in the secret space in the basement?" At that time the buyer did not want to ask about the secret room. Seller already agreed to replace roof, fix the leaning garage, and pay closing costs (all major expenses). The foundation was solid throughout the basement and from the outside so he chose not to ask further. We actually joked about it being an entrance to a tunnel or the "black hole". The inspector also did not feel it posed a problem. It just was a mystery space.

I would have asked about the basement area... at the time of the inspection. What was in there? Why was it done?
