I broke all the rules for SEO (search engine optimization or placement) when I titled my blog. If you want your blog to come up high in the web directories so you get business from it, you're supposed to use terms that apply to the topic. In the case where my blog is real estate oriented, I should be using words like real estate, houses, REALTORĀ®, real estate agent, homes for sale, listings, house buyers . . . well, you get the picture. Instead I talk about snowflakes! Huh???
You have to know I'm a bit off center . . . not sure if it's right or left, so a straight business blog just seemed too boring to me. I needed to enjoy this troublesome chore. I also wanted to get a point clarified about real estate: no two transactions are alike! There are so many variables ranging from the personalities of the people involved to the specifics of the title work, from the age of the house to the maintenance performed over time. Each professional involved in the transaction provides a different slant on the process. Each client brings their expectations. All together it could be a big pot of mush, but I choose to see each transaction as a paper snowflake. We keep snipping away at the process until a unique, but finished product is formed, the snowflake (the purchase or sale of your home!).
September 11, 2006 - *Now* I get it! It's one of those things that is obvious once it is explained, but for us myopic types it ain't clear.
Don't worry about SEO (at least not for your title). In my market, I have about zero chance of people finding me organically via a search and PPC will be *way* too expensive. Anyone who "finds" me will have to be told exactly which URL to paste, which is fine. I plan to 'keep' them with some interesting content and a whiff of personality -- just as you have done.
Nice job, Bonnie.

June 7, 2006 - I wondered earlier this year if when the snow melted you would want to change your blog name. Of course even during the summer Minnesota folk have to remember snow because it is just around the corner.... You are an individual! One of a kind. I was on Technorati once and found other Snippets blogs. Snippets in relation to "code" seemed like the most common. Techy!
