A fellow blogger asked if I would be posting an April Fool's entry today. It hadn't really crossed my mind, but if something fun came up, I was sure to oblige.
A little research helped when I found my favorite "therapy" place, Taco Bell, has a sense of humor. It seems that in 1996 Taco Bell took out a full page ad in the New York Times announcing their purchase of the Liberty Bell to allay the country's debt! A full page ad in the NY Times! Imagine the $$$ associated with that! But to make matters worse, when asked about the Taco Liberty Bell, Mike McCurry, the White House press secretary, dead panned that the Lincoln Memorial had also been sold and would be known in the future as the Ford Lincoln Mercury Memorial! Now that is an April Fool's joke!
Bonnie, this is a great story....I vaguely remember reading about it. And I wish it was true, no? Yo quiero Taco Bell :-)

I understand totally about being a chicken. I'm still trying to figure out if Teresa sold her RealEstateWeenie to Inman News. Since she posted it on April Fool's Day, I don't know if it was serious or not.

I did not do an April Fools entry yesterday (or last year) either. I am a chicken. I love Kevin's recap of the April Fool's entries around the blogosphere.. I jumped over Teresa's guest blogger thinking it was just boring lender stuff without reading it and for me it was one of the best because of my preconceived notions about boring lender blogs.
I read about Mike McCurry's ad lib too and got a chuckle.
