Last May an alert was posted on my blog for anyone who might have seen these stolen windows. There wasn't a lot of media coverage on stolen stained glass at the time so when the Pioneer Press published today that a ring of stained glass window thieves had been captured and my listing wasn't the only one hit, I was surprised. The windows might even be in the St. Paul impound lot. All that has to be done is to bring in the police report, identification, and a picture and one can reclaim their lost treasures! Tomorrow we'll see if our windows are there and if it's really as easy as they proclaim!
Now let's see. Does retrieving stolen goods come under the job description for St. Paul real estate agent?
Carole, I haven't figured out how you can do that aside from hiring someone to live in the house which we have done on occasion. . . a trusted student for instance.
Lisa, Wouldn't the list be endless of the things we end up doing which aren't usually included in the job description. For me it ends up being what gives my client the edge to sell their house. If that includes removing cobwebs regularly, then so be it! The windows did not include ours. The police were only able to track 80 windows most of which were plain leaded glass. It seems the antique dealers who receive these stolen goods don't want to lose the money they paid the thieves so aren't admitting to having them! Until they become regulated like pawn shops, the police believe the problem will continue. The estimated value for these lost windows was about $2,000!

Yes. The same way moving boxes, sweeping, and running errands for clients falls under the description of St. Paul Real Estate Agent. Keep us up to date if your windows get found!

All the agents in all the brokerages doing business in Lakewood Ohio a few years back networked and came up with some ideas to help protect from these kinds of thefts due to the same issue. I'm glad they caught this one!
